About

With over 20 years of experience in commercial training, Alan has a huge wealth of knowledge behind him in a variety of subjects.  He was a Lead Trainer at one of the UK’s leading PRINCE2 training organisations, before starting his own company, responsible to the examining board for the conduct of all the trainers delivering courses in the subject. Alan specialises in generic and bespoke programme and project management methods and techniques, delivering his courses with the focus on the practical application of the skills and establishing value for money for the customer. Alan’s approach is to use real life examples and exercises to illustrate learning points, coupled with a deep technical knowledge in order to cope with even the most difficult questions from delegates. His experience allows him to explain difficult topics to delegates with widely differing skill sets and backgrounds, with humour and appropriate clarity.

Skill Set

Alan originally became a trainer delivering Applications training courses and is an accredited Microsoft Office User Specialist Master, including the full Office suite and Microsoft Project. Later in his career, he achieved Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer status through SQL Server 7 and Visual Basic 6.  Having been involved with projects throughout his career, it was a natural step to deliver project management tools and techniques before gaining PRINCE2 accredited status in 2002. This knowledge has helped a number of situations where clients have commissioned projects to implement Microsoft Project Server – a difficult subject as it crosses a number of traditional IT boundaries – and assisting with teaching project management to IT specialists.

He has written courseware throughout his career, most recently PRINCE2 2017 courses, a modular generic project management set of courses, as well as personal skills and IT courses.

Alan can provide a number of additional services for customers, including the ongoing mentoring and development of programme and project managers, consultancy services and the provision of Programme and Project Assurance and governance.
